Power cuts and gas emergencies

Power cut: call 105 from any phone, free. It connects you to your local network operator, which looks after the cables and the substation. Check your trip switches first, and check whether the neighbours are affected.

Smell gas: call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away, open doors and windows, don’t use switches or naked flames, and turn off the gas at the meter if you can.

These numbers are the same whichever supplier you’re with.
